Not Detecting Inserted Cards

If your terminal is not detecting inserted cards but still accepts contactless payments, the chip reader may be dirty or damaged.

  1. Power Off the Terminal Hold down the red X button until the device turns off.

  2. Mark for Configuration Update Log in to Webcom and mark the terminal for a default configuration update.

  3. Clean the Chip Reader

    • Take a card (preferably a debit/credit card with raised numbers).

    • Insert the card upside down and back to front, so the chip is not in the reader.

    • Remove and insert the card 10 times, wiggling it each time to dislodge dirt inside the reader.

  4. Power On the Terminal Hold down the green button until the device turns back on.

  5. Perform a Test Transaction Try a test transaction to confirm the chip reader is working.

  6. If Still Not Working Please Contact Support to log a replacement terminal, as the chip reader may be damaged.
